Our First Ever Mardi Gras Ball
Saturday, February 10 – 6:00 – 9:00 PM

We’ve long had our beer in Louisiana. In fact, it’s the only state you can find Saint Arnold beer outside of Texas. Thus, we’re pretty fond of our neighbors to the east (hi, Halston!), and let’s face it – everyone loves Mardi Gras. This year, we’re celebrating in a big way with our first ever Mardi Gras Ball at the brewery.

Join us Saturday, February 10 for an evening of Mardi Gras fun, entertainment by the Bayou City Brass Band, beer, and food. Here’s our buffet menu for the evening:

Shrimp and Andouille Jambalaya | Chicken Gumbo

Blackened Chicken Wings | Red Beans | Rice

Black-Eyed Pea and Arugula Salad | Mini Muffuletta Sandwiches

King Cake (Find the Baby, Get a Prize!)

Our Beer Hall is typically a come-as-you-are environment, and we like it that way. For this event though, we suggest you get a bit fancy. Mardi Gras costumes, tuxedos and gowns are all encouraged. It’s a ball, after all. Treat yourself!

Tickets are $50 person and include the buffet, beer for the evening, and a special Hurricane style glass to take home.

The Woodlands Pub Crawl

Saturday, January 27 – 2:00 – 6:00 PM

It’s back! Our world famous Pub Crawl is once again heading north of The Wall to take over The Woodlands on Saturday, January 27. This time, you can begin at any of the first five stops, where we will be passing out the tickets between 2:00 and 3:00 PM. After that, you’ll head to the rest of the stops in any order and get your ticket punched at each one.

At 6:00 PM, everybody will gather at the final stop, and we will award the prizes. The prize for making all the stops will be a glorious Saint Arnold Pub Crawl pint glass. As always, designated drivers are both eligible for the award and encouraged to attend! Here is the layout:

Hit these spots in any order before 6:00 PM:

Baker St. Pub & Grill

The Refuge Bar & Bistro

Yucatan Taco Stand

Bar Louie

Nick’s Fish Dive & Oyster Bar

Finish here at 6:00 PM:

The Goose’s Acre

Valentines for Veterans at Saint Arnold
Monday, January 15 – 6:00 – 9:00 PM

We’ve been teaming up with Valentines for Veterans for several years now to host an evening of beer and crafts for a great cause. The event raises funds for an incredible local organization, Expedition Balance. This group is committed to providing holistic support for Houston-area combat veterans facing PTSD. Here’s how the evening works:

$10 at the door gets you entry into the brewery. $5 from each entry will go directly to Expedition Balance. Taps are open for the evening. Our kitchen will be open from 6:00 – 8:00 PM. Craft tables will be set up so you can get creative and make valentines to honor our veterans.

We hope to see you here on Monday!

Valentine’s Day Beer & Cheese Tasting with Houston Dairymaids
Sunday, February 11 – 1:00 – 3:00 PM

We love chocolates, but cheese is where it’s really at for Valentine’s Day. And beer, of course. On Sunday, February 11, we’ll be pairing our handcrafted beers with Texas made cheeses selected and brought by the Houston Dairymaids. It’s an afternoon at the brewery perfect for couples and groups alike.

We’ll have a few of the Dairymaids on hand to discuss the cheeses, and we’ll be talking about the beers. Reservations are $30 per person.

Saint Arnold Newsletter

Dear Saint Arnold Army,

As we rang in 2018 with a beer, we realized
it was a big year for us. We want to thank you for enjoying our beer and
supporting what we do.

None of the below could have been
accomplished without you.

What We Did in 2017

We brewed a lot of
beer. 67,545 barrels to be exact.
How much is that? Think about it this way: If it were all bottles laid down end
to end, that line of bottles would stretch all the way from Houston
to Juneau, Alaska
.

You
enjoyed a lot of Art Car IPA. If
you poured the volume into the trunks of our actual Art Cars, you would need
39,969 Art Cars. That would be a
hell of an Art Car Parade.

We
released several new beers. Pub
Crawl Pale Ale, Raspberry AF, Divine Reserve No. 17, four new Icons, and three
new Bishop’s Barrel beers were all introduced.

At this year’s
Great American Beer Festival, we
were proud to take home three medals and – for
the first time ever – Mid-Size Brewing Company of the
Year
.

We
were honored to participate in Beer
Camp
with Sierra Nevada Brewing
Company
.

We celebrated 23
years of brewing
. Five of our favorite Houston breweries released
tribute beers by putting their twist on our originals.

When Hurricane
Harvey
hit our home, we organized donations at the brewery,
and – with our #ReliefBeers program – recruited over
100 breweries from Texas and across
the country to help raise $35,235 for the
Houston Food Bank
.

We
won the World Series! Okay, that
was the Astros, but come on. We all won.

We continued our focus on the local
community
by regularly supporting
over 80 charitable organizations.

We hosted 13 Pub Crawls in Houston and our other
markets.

In
anticipation of our new restaurant and beer garden, we introduced the Saint Arnold Society. Members get
free beer for life.

We remained independent.

What We’re Looking Forward to in
2018

We’ll do a lot this
year, but three things in particular have us very excited.

We’ll brew a lot
of beer
. Many of them you already know. Some
will be brand new.
None will be a collaboration with Brash
Brewing Company.

We’ll open our new restaurant and beer garden across the
street.

We will remain independent.

Thank you again for another year of
your incredible support.

Cheers!

Recounting The Bay State’s Year
in Craft Beer

Our last feature blog of the year recaps the year that
was in 2017, as far as local craft beer goes anyway. In other news, check out
the list of all 39 breweries that opened in Massachusetts during the last 12
months, read about how the Kendall Square Cinema in Cambridge has started
championing independent beer to go along with its independent movies, and catch

Saint Arnold Newsletter

Dear Saint Arnold
Army,

We hope you had yourself a Merry (and Beery)
Christmas. We had a great time with those of you who visited the brewery last
week for photos with Santa. We made sure he put you on the nice
list.

Now, 2018 is nearly upon us. Per usual, we
will be closed on Sunday. On New Year’s Day (Monday), we will be open normal
hours for our regular beer service, public tours and a limited food
menu.

Come see us!

11th Annual One
Pot Showdown
Sunday, January 28 – 1:00 – 4:00 PM

What started eleven years ago
as a small cookoff (featuring mainly chilis) in our old parking lot has evolved
into a huge cookoff of creative and eclectic dishes with a happy crowd and the
downtown skyline in the background. On Sunday, January 28, we’ll have 80 cooking
teams ready to serve you their tastiest dish made with Saint Arnold beer. It’s
one part chili cookoff, one part stew stampede, one part gumbo gauntlet and ten
parts Saint Arnold goodness.

A group of judges will sample all the
dishes and award one team the coveted One Pot Trophy. You get to taste all of
the dishes (or as many as you can!) and see if you agree with the
judges.

Proceeds from this event go to Kid’s Meals, an organization
that provides healthy lunches to preschool aged kids living in poverty. It’s
like Meals on Wheels, but for kids.

Tickets are $40 per person, and you
may purchase up to four tickets per email address. One Pot Showdown
always sells out very quickly.

Interesting in competing as a cooking team? As of the
writing of this sentence, we have a few spots remaining. If you want in, see
the rules and sign your team up
here
.

St. Patrick’s Day
Party + Donegal Beard Growing Competition
Saturday, March
17

Guess what. In 2018, St.
Patrick’s Day falls on a Saturday. We didn’t really need a reason to
make our annual St. Patrick’s Day Party bigger and better than ever, but we’ll
take it. This time around, it will be an all day street party.
We’ll begin the day with
a special Irish Breakfast to get you prepared for the festivities (tickets for
the Irish Breakfast will go on sale at a later date). After that, we’ll open up
the brewery for an all day party featuring special beers, commemorative
glassware, food trucks, and live Irish music from Dead Rabbits, Murder the
Stout and others. Admission to our St. Patrick’s Day Party is
free!

Of course, it wouldn’t be
a Saint Arnold St. Patrick’s Day Party without our Donegal Beard Growing
Competition. To stick with the bigger and better theme, we’re upping the ante
for the grand prize. This year, your beard could win you an exclusive membership
to th
e Saint Arnold Society – a
$1,00
0
value.
Here’s how to
enter:
Step one: Between January 1 and
January 6, shave any current facial hair you may have. Everyone must start
clean-shaven. Step two: Email us an official “before” photo of your clean-shaven
self holding up the day’s newspaper. If newspapers aren’t your thing, pull up
the Houston Chronicle’s website on your laptop or tablet and take a photo with
that.

Email your photos no sooner than Monday, January 1 and no later
than Saturday, January 6 to jeremy_johnson@saintarnold.com. You can also stop by the
brewery during public hours, and we’ll take your photo for you.

Step
three: start growing a beard. Step four: keep growing a beard. We will crown the
winner at our St. Patrick’s Day Party.

Fine print: Clean-shaven means no
facial hair. Sideburns must be cut at least halfway up the ear. Previous winners
are ineligible for two years. We will be seeking qualified, independent judges
for the
competition.

Icon Blue –
Chocolate Milk Stout Celebration at Hugo’s
Thursday, January 11 – 5:30 – 7:00

A couple of weeks ago, we

a
beer featuring the Mexican chocolate tablets made by 2017 James Beard Award
winner for Best Chef: Southwest, Hugo Ortega. On Thursday, January 11, you can
join us at Hugo’s for a special happy hour to celebrate.
Chef Hugo and our Founder Brock
Wagner will both be on hand for a meet and greet. The night will also include
beer samples as well as other special creations, beer cocktails by Sommelier
Sean Beck, a masa based food demonstration, and a wide variety of beer based
Mexican street foods.
Tickets are $25 per person,
plus tax and gratuity. For reservations, please call Hugo’s at

Playlist Pale Ale
Series

We love music
here at the brewery (almost) as much as we love beer. So we decided to mix
things up with a new Pale Ale beer series called Playlist – perfect for spinning
some tunes while you sip.

Each beer in the series will feature a
variation on a theme – using the same base Pale Ale recipe (which includes oats,
2-Row and Pilsen malt from Valley Malt, plus honey malt) then, just like
when making good music, we’ll switch things up to keep it fresh every time we
brew. One batch will vary the hops and the next will change up the
yeast.

This week we introduce Playlist 00:01– featuring
a healthy dose of Citra, Sorachi Ace, El Dorado, XJA2-436, and Southern Star
hops, plus Conan yeast. It’s got a candied hop aroma, yet drinks quite dry, with
notes of pineapple, melon, and a touch of citrus. It weighs in at 6.2% ABV and
53 IBU. On tap now!

NOTE:
Holiday Hours

– Christmas Eve
Day, 10-2pm

Special Brunch Hours & Menu
(no
reservations needed)
– New Year’s Eve
Day 12-7pm

     Full Menu, Festive Bites, and
Champagne Cocktails all
day!

Our Hobbs Farm Kitchen beer mustard and
apple butter make great gifts! Both go great with ham, cheese plates, cured
meats, and more. Choose from 3.7oz or 10oz individual jars, or grab a three
pack of the mini jars for $12.75 and stuff some stockings!

Stoneman News Letter

Stoneman is Back

we are “All In” for this batch so please help support us so we can continue doing what we love to do… Creating something you can pour into an empty glass…

Stoneman Brewery’s Official Newsletter…

It’s been a little while since I have put together a newsletter on this email chain… I apologies for keeping people in the dark about the changes I have been making and I welcome any new people reading about Stoneman for the first time.

To briefly recap I started one of the first Beer CSA’s in the country on my tiny one barrel farm brewery in the hill town of Colrain sourcing almost all the ingredients from near by farms brewing 100 batches a year for several years…  I have only sold beer to a handful of stores and restaurants since I was one of the smallest breweries in the North East and sold most of my beer directly to CSA members… Needles to say running a business by yourself, brewing, bottling, marketing, delivering and raising little Maggie (almost 3) was a lot for one person to handle… I slowed down the business a year and a half ago to come up with a better more sustainable plan, and recuperate from working myself into the ground…  The Beer CSA has taken a pause so I could figure out a plan to move forward…. and that day has come…

Today I am proud to release the first batch of “ALL IN WITH WESTERN MA HOPS IPA” 7% abv… I have started Contract Brewing in Williamsburg MA and I have brewed and caned a 23 barrel batch…  It is hitting the shelves as I type with the help from Berkshire Brewing Company who is now my distributor… Starting a one barrel brewery by my self has taught me a lot and I have learned a lot of lessons… I never intended to get bigger or go with a distributor but I also want to be able to continue at a more sustainable pace… My goal is to be able to generate enough excitement about these Contract releases and then I will be able to focus on small test batches / collaboration projects / start up a New Beer CSA Model that I have been working on for over a year… In order for my tiny brewery to work I have to generate enough capital working with other people and not doing everything my self… So brewing on a larger system and having my friends brewery distribute for me makes a lot of sense.

The Vision of Stoneman is still very clear in this larger batch… 100% of the hops came from Four Star Farms (Northfield) and 30% of the Grain came from Valley Malt (Hadley MA and 100 miles away in NY)… I also used flaked wheat from Maine Grain co-op…  It is a NORTHEAST Style IPA… all the hops were added after the boil so it a very aromatic ale with not a lot of bitterness and a smooth cloudy mouth feel from the malted and flaked wheat.  It is best fresh so please share this email / tell your friends to help support Stoneman…

I have taken a much needed break from social media / promoting / marketing but now I am back… here is my schedule of tastings for the next two days..

Friday June 23 4-530 @ Hagers Market on Route 2 just on top of the hill from Greenfield MA… It is the first of there farmers market series that happens ever other week… Come out meet the brewer and taste/buy some of this new beer

Saturday June 24  12-2 @ Pine Hill Orchards on Colrain Shelburne Rd…

Saturday June 24 3-5 @ River Valley Market in Northampton…

Here is the complete list of stores that have ordered this beer as of today

Atkins Farm Amherst

Ryan and Casey Greenfield

The Beer Shop E Longmedow

River Valley Market NoHo

4 season Hadley

Pine HIll Orchards Colrain

Provisions NoHo

Hagers market Shelburne

Cold River Package Charlamont

State St NoHo

Coopers Corner Florence

McCuskers Buckland

Sorry if I missed someone on the list it’s off the top of my head and I just spent the day driving around Boston for the for the first time hitting up stores along route 2 …

If you want my beer and live in MA tell your local package store to order through Berkshire Brewing Co or get in touch with Stoneman and he make sure you can get some…. The more people that stop it to there favorite store and request this beer the more I can make and continue on the path of the Vision Of Stoneman… One of the best things about distributing with BBC is that they are everywhere in the state so together we can easily get you a 4 pack or a case… People can also email me for a case order and I can hook it up to a package store near you through BBC… It’s a pretty amazing opportunity…

I have much more News on the way but for now I have to get ready to drive around tomorrow and do the Hustle…  I am very proud of this new larger batch and I couldn’t be where I am today with All of Your Help… Thanks for buying my product, believing in me, supporting me and please help spread the word about how special this beer is… 111 pounds of Hops in 23 barrels of beer…. All Four Star Farms Cascade, Nugget and Rakkau …  The More Beer I can sell this weekend and next week the larger the next batch can be which gets us closer to the goal or our New CSA Model release which I will explain later…

Cheers Justin Korby a.k.a. Stoneman…

The inaugural year of our Throwback Brewery Mug Club has been such a success, and in such high demand (thank you!), that we thought – why not expand it and make room for a few more?

So, if you haven’t heard the perks of membership yet, or are a current member who hasn’t yet re-upped, here is a recap of the special privileges that await for our lucky mug club members in year two!

Membership Privileges – Exclusive Benefits of the Throwback Brewery Mug Club include:

– One free mug of beer to celebrate your initiation or renewal

Beer Release and Concert – Tuesday, July 18th!
When the non-profit Rock On Foundation asked that we brew a beer with them to support their Rock On Fest (featuring a bunch of female-led bands), how could we say no? Also, never one to really need an excuse for a party, we also thought ‘why not throw a release party here of this limited edition collaborative beer called Master of Art Saison?’! So come on by Throwback Brewery on Tuesday, July 18th from 6-9pm for the release of this beer plus a free show from Boston’s Damn Tall Buildings – a kick butt, folksy bluegrass band!

Note – this is a free event, but will be capped at ~200 for capacity reasons. Please make sure to grab a ticket on eventbrite if you would like to go!

About the Rock On Foundation. Founded by brothers Luke Bonner and Matt Bonner, Rock On Foundation is a 501c3 nonprofit organization that serves to enrich the quality of life in communities by supporting athletic, artistic, and scholastic initiatives.

New Beers!
On our 6th birthday party, we released
Kelly Likes Hops IPL – a hoppy lager, also known as an India Pale Lager. This beer is super crisp and clear with a full hop bouquet and taste – melon, grapefruit peel, with a bit of hop dank-ness. Some of you might be very surprised to learn that it’s a lager! This is the second beer in our Hoppin’ Summer Series – the first was Cashmere Track Suit (which has already come and gone, but you can expect it to make an appearance again early Fall!). In August, we are releasing a dry-hopped, tart blonde ale. And, finally, in September, you can look forward to a dry-hopped sumac sour!

Today, we ‘watermeloned’ our blonde ale – so look forward to Watta Melon by this Saturday.

Next Tuesday, July 18th at 6pm, come celebrate the release of Master of Art Saison – a hazy, golden-colored, dry saison with a big tangerine nose and flavors of tangerine, peach, and apricot – balanced by a kick of peppery spice from the saison yeast. This beer received its name as a tribute to indie-rocker Laura Stevenson who will be headlining Rock On Fest in downtown Concord, NH on Sat, August 12th – a festival boasting live music, basketball, family fun, outdoor yoga, an outdoor movie, and our beer!

And, finally, coming up for the 4th Annual NH Brewers Fest, we are brewing a special beer – a fruit-forward grisette. Light and drinkable at 4.6% ABV! For those of you without plans on July 22nd, we highly recommend this beer fest! There will ne more NH brews flowing than any other brewfest across the State. With OVER 40 of NH’s craft breweries hard at work to make this year’s festival the biggest offering yet- with special releases, collaborations, and several seasonals available. And let’s not forget how many of NH brewers and assistant brewers will be on site and pouring their brews! So grab a ticket, and come try our special release for this fest, and say ‘hi’ to Throwback co-founder Nicole.
