Portsmouth Beer Week Events, Including The 7th Annual
Chocolate, Cheese, & Beer Event

*** We are closing today, Wednesday, February 7th due
to the snow. Hopefully you guys stay nice and warm and enjoy this email of
upcoming events! ***

February
brings the start of Portsmouth Beer
Week
– a 10-day celebration of the local craft beer scene here on
the seacoast. We hope you’ll join us for one of our many fun events during the
week, such as our annual Chocolate, Cheese,
& Beer Pairing Event

on Wednesday, February 28th @ 6pm. You are not going to want to miss this
one! Here’s the lineup of what we have planned so
far:

Saturday, February 24th, 11am-9pm: Cask vs. Draft vs.
Nitro!

Maybe
it’s just the beer geeks in us, but we love seeing how one beer can taste so
different depending on how it is served (cask, nitro, draft) or what hops are
used. Based on the popularity of our past Cask vs. Draft vs. Nitro events, you
guys get a kick out of these kind of fun beer comparisons, too! So please join
us on Saturday, February 24
th, when we
are offering a limited edition sample tray of our Playlist beer, consisting of
Playlist 00:02 on draft, on cask, and on nitro, plus Playlist 00:01 on draft –
so you can see how different a beer can taste when the hops are changed
up. Each limited edition sample tray will come with one voting card-
vote for your favorite, and we’ll
give you $1 off a pint of that beer!

Wednesday, February
28th, 6pm:
7th Annual Chocolate, Cheese, & Beer
Event

Each
year, we like to play with and push the culinary possibilities of pairing
hand-crafted chocolate and thoughtfully selected cheeses from local New England
and NY artisans with our farm-fresh beers.

This year marks the 7th
offering of this event, and we continue to be inspired by all the magical ways
we can pair chocolate, cheese, and beer. The menu is almost complete and the first draft includes
goodies like Flying Goat pub cheese
ball encrusted with Enna Chocolate’s cocoa nibs, Spring Brook Farm (Arlington,
VT)
Ashbrook cheese soufflé with Enna Chocolate’s cocoa
power
& our vegetable ash, house-made chocolate cruller with maple
cream, fried cheese curds with muhammara, house-made whipped hop honey, plus –
more chocolate and cheese! Check out this page for more details on the menu. We’ll be
updating it as we finalize the beers as well.

As always, ticket price is INCLUSIVE of tax and
gratuity. So grab your seat
today
as this event has a history of selling out quickly! (Makes a
great Valentine’s gift, too!) And, yes, chocolate, cheese, and beer make
for a most lovely dinner.

Friday,
March 2nd: A Spirit-ed Celebration with Sea
Hagg

Every
year, Portsmouth Beer Week ends up being not just about craft beer, but about
community and friendship as well. To that end, we thought, why not invite one of
our favorite neighbors over for an event? Come join us on Friday, March 2nd for
a spirit-ed celebration with local distiller Ron Vars of Sea Hagg fame. Ron will be here at 6pm,
but we will be highlighting three of his spirits (Sea Hagg Blueberry Rum, Ice Pik Vodka, and Rocky Peak Cinnamon Whiskey) in
various food and drink specials all day. Rumor has it that there maybe a
cask of our Stout, Stout infused with the cinnamon whiskey and potentially a
barrel-aged stout as well!

Sunday,
March 4th: Smokin’ Sunday

Come
visit us here at Hobbs Farm for a day of smoked beers, BBQ food specials, and a
fire in our beer garden! Special beers that day will include a one-off keg of
Chipotle Dippity Do, a special cask of Smoked Peach Pilsener, and the return of
one of our favorite beers – our Campfire Smoked Robust Porter.

Also, during
Portsmouth Beer week, we’ll be serving up the Collaboration Belgian IPA we made
with the 17 other breweries in and around the seacoast. More information on this
beer can be found here.

Hope to see you here during Portsmouth Beer Week, and
hopefully even earlier! We’ve got a really fun lineup of beers on right now –
running the gambit from very light to a very Stout Stout!

Cheers!
–Annette & Nicole

Meet our newest Hop Cycle seasonal, Crimson Pistil

Crimson Pistil Hibiscus IPA, our brand new summer Hop Cycle seasonal, is now available everywhere you can buy Tröegs beer! It’s summertime. Hop bines are growing up to 6 inches a day. Hibiscus is in full bloom. And in Crimson Pistil, the two get in a glorious tangle of berry-like tanginess, sunset technicolor and sticky tropical notes. Check out our Brew Finder to locate some near you!

Tröegs Trip

This summer, you have a chance to win your dream trip to the Tröegs brewery in Hershey, PA just by telling us about your favorite summer adventure. If your entry is selected for the grand prize, you and a friend will get picked up for a choose-your-own-adventure style road trip with your very own tour guide from the brewery. We’ll work directly with you to create your own perfect two-night road trip that ends with the world’s best VIP brewery tour. For complete details, please visit troegs.com/trip.

Scratch Beer Roundup

Scratch #284 – Raspberry Gose is now available on draft at the brewery! We also have a limited number of cases available for purchase in our General Store. Born as an antidote to hot and hazy East Coast summers, this puckish summer wheat is a friendly tug-of-war between ruby red raspberries and the benevolent bacteria lactobacillus. Prickly and floral, tangy with a touch of salt, this beer is your ticket to an endless summer. Just be home by dark. 5.4% ABV and 9 IBU. We’ll also feature Scratch #284 in our Anthology Summer sampler packs later in May.

Rugged Trail Nut Brown Ale recently hit tap lines in our Tasting Room! With Rugged Trail, we’ve reimagined a Tröegs classic by incorporating some of our favorite American hops for an invigorating spin on this otherwise traditional English style. Rugged Trail boasts a deep bronze hue, rich nutty flavor, and earthy hop profile. 5.0% ABV and 38 IBU. Availability: draft and growler fills only.

(717) Collaboration is back! Brewed in cahoots with Pizza Boy and Appalachian Brewing Companies, this marks the third consecutive (717) Collaboration release to commemorate Harrisburg Beer Week. This year’s offering, a pilsner brewed with lime zest and Hawaiian basil, is available on draft only. Try some on tap in the Tasting Room or while you’re out and about in the (717). 4.5% ABV and 20 IBU. Availability: draft and growler fills only.

At Tröegs, we’re always in a state of perpetual motion. Scratch #279 is a nod to our friends at the American Visionary Art Museum, hosts of the annual Kinetic Sculpture Race that takes over the streets of Baltimore for an entire day. In addition to our sponsorship of this year’s race, and in celebration of the spirit of human-powered amphibious propulsion, we offer a Scratch Beer we’ve dubbed Kinetic IPA. Dry-hopped with Chinook and Galaxy for a surge of sweet fruit, pine sap and citrus zing, Kinetic IPA will be available on draft for a limited time at bars and restaurants along the Kinetic Race route. You can also enjoy a pint in our Tasting Room. 4.5% ABV and 45 IBU.

With Scratch #280, we continue our exploration of Pale Ales brewed with a single experimental hop variety. A joint venture of HopUnion and the Hop Breeding Company, the yet-to-be-named “HBC 342” lends a dominant tropical fruit character with a tinge of citrus and watermelon around the edges. 5.8% ABV and 66 IBU. Availability: draft and growler fills only.

Santo De Mayo Pub Night at Saint Arnold
Friday, May 5

Santo De Mayo is almost here! As fate would have it, the holiday falls on a Friday this year, so we’re turning our Pub Night into a full on Santo De Mayo Fiesta. Our Beer Hall will be open till 10:00 PM with special beers, food and all sorts of festivities!

Special tappings for the evening include Mango Habanero Art Car IPA, Raspberry AF-Rita Gose and more. Of course, there will be plenty of Santo flowing, and our brand new Santo De Mayo pint glass will make its debut. Our kitchen crew will be serving delicious Mexican dishes to pair with your Santo.

We’ll also welcome our amigo and Santo artist Carlos Hernandez who will be live printing t-shirts from hand carved woodblocks. You can also bring the Santo art to life by painting your face, dressing up, and entering our Santo costume contest!

Of course, it wouldn’t quite be Santo De Mayo without a mariachi band, so live music for the evening will be provided by Mariachi Tradición de Jalisco.

Happy Santo De Mayo!

Santo De Mayo Pub Crawl in Montrose
Saturday, May 202:006:00 PM

One of the greatest things about Santo De Mayo is you’re not limited to just one day – we like to celebrate throughout the month of May! Our annual Santo De Mayo Pub Crawl is on Saturday, May 20 this year, and we’ll still be in the spirit. We’re heading back to Montrose, and like we’ve done a few times in the past for our larger Pub Crawls, this one will feature two routes.

Everyone will start at Rudyard’s, where you’ll receive your punch card and learn your route. Obviously, we’ll do our best to not split your group of friends in half. Both routes will end at the same place – Doc’s.

The prize for completing the crawl is our limited edition Santo De Mayo pint glass. We will have a large but limited supply. Designated drivers are always encouraged to participate and eligible for the award! Here’s the layout:

Start at 2:00 PM:
Rudyard’s

Your route will include some (but not all) of the following:
Hay Merchant | La Grange | The Burger Joint | Stone’s Throw
Pistolero’s | Brasil | Poison Girl | El Real

Final Stop at 6:00 PM:
Doc’s

Beer Dinner at Saint Arnold
Wednesday, March 23 at 6:00 PM

For the past several weeks, our Chef Ryan has been sneaking off in the middle of the day to sit in the Beer Hall with Lennie and Josh. We call this work.

You can taste the fruits of their labor at a special Beer Dinner in our Investors Pub on Wednesday, March 23. Chef Ryan will guide you through five courses and the beers we chose to pair with each. Taps will open at 6:00 PM, and we’ll sit down for dinner at 6:30.

  Cultivator & Anthology Spring
The 2016 Hop Cycle has begun with the release of Cultivator Helles Bock! Emerging from springtime’s fertile ground, our Cultivator celebrates the start of hop-growing season as sprawling fields of hop rhizomes climb and tether to hop bines. This spring bock delivers hints of toasted grains, fresh baked bread and delicate floral hops. Cultivator is available on draft and in 6-packs, 12-packs, and cases of 12-ounce bottles, as well as 12-packs of 12-ounce cans.

With the arrival of Cultivator comes a new Anthology sampler pack for springtime. Each Anthology Spring 12-pack is blooming with our best-selling Perpetual IPA plus year-round favorite HopBack Amber, Hop Cycle seasonal Cultivator Helles Bock, and another exclusive limited Scratch Beer release – a French-style Saison. Anthology Spring will be available in all of our distribution markets by mid-February. In the coming months, Anthology Summer and Fall will follow suit to include Perpetual IPA as well as rotating year-round, Hop Cycle, and Scratch Series beers.

  Nugget Nectar

We’re still knee-deep in Nugget Nectar season, but don’t blink. It’ll be gone before you know it. Grab some while you can before this once-a-year release disappears until 2017.

It’s impossible to forget your first squeeze. Once a year, as the newest humulus lupulus harvest arrives at Tröegs, we blend these super-fresh hops into an Imperial Amber Ale. Excessively dry-hopped, Nugget Nectar is an explosion of pine, resin and mango.

  DreamWeaver 12-packs
DreamWeaver Wheat is coming in 12-packs! The last of our year-round beers to be released in this format, look for DreamWeaver 12-packs everywhere Tröegs beer is sold by late February. The dream begins with open-top fermentation. At high krausen, a foamy, rocky yeast head crests the sides of the fermenter, releasing notes of black pepper and spicy clove. Unfiltered and cloudy with yeast, DreamWeaver is slightly tart and downright refreshing.

  North Carolina Expansion
After launching in North Carolina back in September 2014, we’re gearing up to open two additional markets in this juggernaut of a craft beer state. By March, you can expect to see Tröegs throughout Asheville and the Outer Banks. We’ve already begun shipping beer to Asheville, so look for Tröegs to start popping up on shelves as early as mid-February. We plan to follow up with Outer Banks in early March. With the addition of these two markets, Tröegs will now be available across the entire state of North Carolina! Check out our Brew Finder to locate Tröegs beers near you.

  Splinter Series

Last month, we announced plans for our Splinter Cellar and the addition of three new foeders to expand our Splinter Beer Series of wood-aged beers. We’re excited to release a few Splinter Beers over the next few months leading up to the completion of the Splinter Cellar in early June. The first release will be barrel-aged Troegenator, available exclusively at the brewery in 375mL cork & cage bottles on Monday, February 29. We’ll release a few other Splinter Beers over the next few months, including Wild Elf, our first foeder experiment featuring sour cherries harvested locally from Peter’s Orchard. Tune in to troegs.com as well as our social media channels for all the latest Splinter Series news and announcements.

  Food Notes
Are you a craft beer drinker who also happens to be a foodie? Check out our detailed Food Notes for all of our beers at troegs.com/beers. Each illustrative artwork includes a handy profile as well as contrasting and complementary food and flavor pairings for each of our beers. We’ve also included foods to steer clear of when pairing with specific beers. Next time you’re planning a food and beer pairing or tasting event, be sure to check them out! You can also purchase art prints and postcards of all our Food Notes at shop.troegs.com.

Saint Arnold Newsletter

Saint Arnold Army Newsletter
Dear Saint Arnold’s Army:

Our Annual St. Patrick’s Day Party at the Brewery
Thursday, March 176:009:00 PM

On Thursday, March 17, we’ll be hosting our annual Saint Arnold Meets St. Patrick Party. The big show for the evening (besides the beer) is our Donegal Beard Growing Competition.

Dozens of brave contestants have been growing out their facial hair since the beginning of the year, and one of them will take home an iPad for their efforts. Of course, they will also get the glory of being a Donegal Beard Growing Champion. That is truly priceless.

For the evening, we’ll have our regular lineup of beers on tap, and we’ll also be tapping special casks of Divine Reserve No. 15, our Russian Imperial Stout released last year. Irish Stew in Bread Bowls will be available for purchase from our kitchen. All in all, it’s a lot more fun than drinking green beer.

Admission is $28 per person and includes beer (including one pint of cask conditioned DR15) and a commemorative pint glass. Attendance is limited, and this event sells out quickly every year.

Get your St. Patrick’s Day Party tickets here.

Pub Night at Saint Arnold
Friday, February 19 – 5:0010:00 PM

Gather your nerdiest friends. Assemble the geekiest team, and bring them to Pub Night this Friday. Geeks Who Drink Trivia is back! The fun starts at 7:00 PM, and Saint Arnold prizes await those with the most useless knowledge.

We’ll also be tapping two special cask conditioned beers during Pub Night. First, we’ll have a cask of Icon Blue – Coffee Porter with Toasted Coconut. We’ll also be tapping an Art Car IPA cask with Huell Melon hops, a German hop that lends melon and berry aroma. Just when you thought Art Car IPA couldn’t get any better!

As always, bring an appetite. Chef Ryan and our kitchen crew will be serving up Burgers, Brats, Jalapeño Teriyaki Wings, Spicy Fish Tacos and Shrimp Quesadillas!

The 15-mile American Canoe Association sanctioned race along scenic Buffalo Bayou is Texas’ largest canoe and kayak race. Paddlers (ages 12 and up) are welcome to enter competitively or just for pleasure.

Those not wanting to paddle can cheer on racers along the race route or catch the outdoor fun at the finish line festivities at Sesquicentennial Park (that’s where the beer comes in!).

Blizzard Of Hops & Anthology Winter
Nugget Nectar is here! We officially rolled out our infamous Imperial Amber Ale to Central Pennsylvania, Philadelphia, and Lehigh Valley on January 11. Additional street dates through February are as follows:

January 18 – Western PA and NEPA
January 25 – DC, MD and NJ
February 1 – CT, DE, OH, MA, NC, NY and VA

Be sure to check out one of our “First Squeeze” events in your area. We’re hosting Nugget Nectar first tapping events in all of our major markets, and we’ve got tons of cool swag to giveaway at each event, including art prints, pint glasses, and bottle openers featuring our new Nugget Nectar artwork.

  Mad Elf
We’re excited to announce plans to construct our new Splinter Cellar, which will add fermentation space for wood-aged specialty beers and serve as the new entrance for our behind-the scenes guided tours. The room will feature glass exterior walls on the northeast side of the brewery and three new wooden fermenters (called “foeders”) that will stand more than 23 feet tall. Construction has already begun earlier this month! Check out our blog for the full story.

  New Trøegs Art Unveiled
On February 1, the Hop Cycle comes full circle again as Cultivator hits the shelves. Emerging from springtime’s fertile ground, this spring Helles Bock celebrates the start of hop-growing season as sprawling fields of hop rhizomes climb and tether to hop bines. Our spring bock delivers hints of toasted grains, fresh baked bread and delicate floral hops. For 2016, we’ll release Cultivator in 6-packs, 12-packs and cases of 12-ounce bottles as well as 12-packs of 12-ounce cans. Its new art follows the same path as our recently refreshed artwork, with a festive teal green color as a tribute to springtime, and cream and charcoal accents.

  Winter Displays
To coincide with the release of Cultivator, our new Anthology Spring sampler pack will follow the same new look of our recently updated Anthology Winter. Each 12-pack includes our flagship Perpetual IPA along with year-round favorite HopBack Amber, Hop Cycle seasonal Cultivator Helles Bock, and another exclusive limited Scratch Beer release – a Belgian-style Saison. In the coming months, we’ll introduce new packaging and artwork for the remaining Anthology sampler packs for summer and fall, each including Perpetual IPA and rotating year-round, Hop Cycle, and Scratch Beer releases.

  Nugget Nectar

You know how a familiar guitar riff can take you to a great moment? Our newest year-round beer, Solid Sender Ale delivers a dynamic, dependable rhythm of caramel malt and Cascade hops. After a soft launch in PA, MD and NJ, Solid Sender is now available everywhere you can buy Tröegs beer as of January 1. Solid Sender Ale replaces Tröegs Pale Ale in our family of year-round beers. The term “solid sender” implies dependability and loyalty, proving the perfect name for our new “go-to” ale. Like a finely crafted tune, it’s the perfect beer to get stuck in your head. Use our Brew Finder to locate Solid Sender near you.
