Summer for me isn’t officially here until I’ve had my first platter of raw clams with a pint or two of Summer Ale. We’d like to know what your favorite item is to pair with Summer Ale. Check in with us on our special Summer Ale facebook page, and while there send a friend a virtual Sam Summer!

SAVOR Recap

SAVOR

Jim and several of our brewers just got back from SAVOR, the Brewers Association’s annual beer and food pairing event in Washington, DC. Attendees had the opportunity to sample as many as 144 different craft beers from 72 small and independent craft brewers.

To honor the spirit of the event and craft beer, we teamed up with our friends at Dogfish Head Brewery to create "SAVOR Flowers" – the first ever SAVOR collaboration beer to be served during the event, and distributed to attendees as a parting gift.

Just as the name might indicate, "Savor Flowers" used different flowers throughout the brewing process, from replacing the brew water with rose water, heather honey from the Scottish Highlands, and a blend of tinctures of jasmine, hibiscus, and lavender. It was aged in "Barrel 1" the original barrel used to age Triple Bock back in 1993. Here’s Sam Calagione (Dogfish) and Jim brewing the beer together here in Boston.

Beer of the Month
Samuel Adams Featured Beer

Distinctive and intense hop aroma, flavor balanced by a slight sweetness and light body.

The unique blend of hops in this beer creates a complex and distinctive hop character and aroma without being overpowering. The Bavarian Hallertau Mittelfrueh hops add a floral note to the beer, the American Simcoe®, Zeus, and Ahtanum™ contribute a citrusy and piney hop flavor, and the English Goldings add an earthy character.
Samuel Adams Latitude 48 IPA is available in the Samuel Adams Summer Styles Variety pack and stand-alone six packs, as well as on draft at select locations.
