Meeting 8

The minutes of the beer club tasting.                                     2-6-09

This is the 8th session.

 Sampled was;

Otter Creek Russian Imperial Stout, clocks in around 10% ABV. The style was first brewed in England for the Russian Czar and it is the king of stouts. Plenty of big malt flavors- chocolate and roasted- and high alcohol with lower carbonation and mild hops. We brewed this beer with double the malts and four times the hops of regular stouts!

Dennis; It’s the best stout I have had so far, smooth heavy mouth.

Allen; lots of burnt taste, coffee & lots of alcohol kick.

Stoudts Brewing Double IPA, 10%A.B.V. 90 IBU. Hops are Warrior-cascade & Willamette. Our IPA is strong, full bodied ale with intense hop character and deep golden color. Multiple kettle hop additions and generous dry hopping contribute to the powerful yet smooth and fragrant hop character of this beer.

Dennis; It is most excellent, but smooth in and big after taste. I really like or love it.

Allen;?

Sierra Nevada Torpedo Ale ABV 7.2%, IBU 70.  Is a big American IPA; bold, assertive and full of flavor and aromas highlighting the complex citrus, pine and herbal character of whole-cone American hops.

Dennis; It’s greet, Big hop bite and big after taste.

Allen;?

Berkshire Brewing Company Drayman’s Porter. Alc 6.2%, full bodied dark Ale with pleasant chocolate/roasted malt flavor with a slight malty sweetness that is balanced with a delicate hop bitterness, flavor and aroma.

Dennis; It’s good and smooth I like, just a typical porter I would say.

Allen; -mild, very drinkable, smooth.
