Meeting 10

The minutes of the beer club tasting.                                      3-13-09

This is the 10th session.

 New this week, we started giving our own 1 to 10 rating!

 Sampled was;

BBC Bourbon Barrel Imperial Stout. 8.5 ABV. Imperial Stout was allowed to mellow for nine months in used oak barrels.

Dennis; very good stout smell and taste, when warms big alcohol taste. Very good! I give it 9 out of 10

Allen; Bourbon small & taste very noticeable, I’m not a bourbon fan. I give it a 1 out of 10

   Cuvée Series Two ALE IMPRESSIONS: 11.0% abv.Dark ruby red color, roasted malt flavor with apparent bitterness. Finishes with a rich caramel and espresso aroma. AMERICAN OAK IMPRESSIONS: Impressions of vanilla crème, classic crème brûlée and nougat. A little more oak flavor than series one, but with creamy intensity.
Dennis; murky brown color, smooth start but over the top on rest of mouth.similer to a barley wine! Very good. I give it 9 out of 10

Allen; oak age masks 11% alcohol well notes of butterscotch. I give it 5 out of 10

Olde Burnside BrewingTen Penny Ale Reserve the much stronger version of our original Ten Penny recipe.  This beer is dark brown ale, topped by a thick, loose tan head (ABV 10%).  The smells of roasted grain and toffee are the first things you will notice with your nose when you crack open the bottle.  The tasting experience begins with a splash of caramel like flavor on the tongue, but quickly melds into a full bodied roasted-malt taste.  As you savor this fine ale you will also encounter subtle hints of chocolate and a smoked-malt essence.  After you have finished your bottle you will realize this beer is truly a wonderful merging of high alcohol content and rich full body flavor that will make you want another pint to drink.

Dennis; dark chocolate color sour & tart taste real strong almost like it went bad but drank anyways. Canadian beer smell plus smell and taste like green berry from the bush of a neighbor yard when I was a kid. I give it 6 out of 10

Allen; I give it a 6 out of 10

    Gritty’s “21 IPA” ABV: 6.8% IBU s: 60. Is a unique blend of American hops with a British body utilizing English 2-Row Pale malts.

Dennis; it’s a good IPA! I give it 7 out of 10

Allen; smell is funky, tastes good, citrus notes, some bitterness on end, pretty good. I give it 7 out of 10
