Updates from our Head Brewer

Over the past month, we have received many queries along the lines of “hey, when is your Campfire Smoked Robust Porter going to be ready??”. As many of you know, this beer is a labor of love for us, as we smoke the grain on applewood in order to give it that rich, apple-ly smoked goodness. It takes some time to make, but, it is all worth it! Well, I am happy to report that the beer is now being carbonated, and we should have it on tap next week!
As it is getting a bit colder, we have also been getting lots of queries about Fat Alberta – our chocolate peanut butter imperial stout. We are brewing Fat Alberta this week, which puts us at about the second week of December for its release. As in past years, we’ll mark the occasion with a fun little release party on December 13th, featuring some complementary food as well!
On tap starting this week, we have some of my favorite beers we do all year, including our Fall Seasonal – Chai Porter – which we make with the spicy, warming chai tea from White Heron in Portsmouth, NH. Also on tap now is our Peach Wit (called Orange You Glad I Didn’t Say Peach), which tastes like a fresh picked peach. Our Just Beet Wit has such a beautiful fuchsia color and light, earthy taste. And, our lightly spiced, super drinkable, toasted pumpkin seed tasting Gourdgeous Pumpkin Ale, made from 450 lbs of roasted pumpkin from Blueberry Bay Farm.
Since our last email, we have quickly blown through the first batches we had done on our new system, including Spicy Bohemian, Hopstruck, Hank’s Pale Ale, and Donkey-Hote Double IPA, but, never fear, our next batches are already online.
Next email, I’ll give a sneak peak at the beers we are thinking about for Unafraid of the Dark V!
Until then.. Cheers!

Back to the Future & Our Brew House Theatre

For those of you that have visited our brewery & pub, you probably have noted that there are no televisions gracing the walls. For the most part, we think this has been a great decision, as it seems to encourage more conversation and community. There are, however, certain occasions where we wish we had a screen- such as big Patriots or Sox games, or, perhaps, the watching of Back to the Future on Wednesday, October 21st.
As such, we just bought a nice large screen and a projector, and set them up in our Brew House! The first of hopefully many Brew House theatre showings will be Back to The Future II. The show is free and starts at 6:30pm tomorrow (Wed, Oct 21st). You are more than welcome to order food and drinks and enjoy them while watching the show. Stay tuned for more Brew House viewings, including upcoming Pat games as well Brew Hampshire: the recently released, beautifully crafted movie on NH beer and breweries.
We hope to see you at the farm!

Chef’s Corner

With the change in seasons from Summer to Fall, we have also updated our menu to highlight the Fall harvest, to bring a bit more comfort food to the mix, and to add some great food options for kids. Some of my favorite items on the new menu include a Squash Soup we make using the beautiful and tasty red kuri squash from Wake Robin Farm and Brookford Farm. We roast the squash and blend it with the flavors of Fall – apple, ginger, a touch of nutmeg – and finish it with crispy kale and a touch of chai sour cream.
New sandwiches include the brisk-wich, a hearty meal made with brisket we smoke on applewood for over 12 hours. This paired with our cheesy grits as a side is the perfect supper on a nice crisp evening.
For those who like a bit more heat, you should definitely try our Chorizo Bowl- spicy, house-made chorizo mixed with rice, topped with avocado, cilantro, cabbage, and a fried egg, and then finished with our adobo broth and poblano goat cheese yogurt. This dish pairs very well with most beer, including our Spicy Bohemian and Donkey-Hote Double IPA.
Finally, Sundays is Chef’s Whim – where we come up with three or so new menu items focused on a particular theme. This Sunday, October 25th we are going back to one of our favorite themes – Breakfast for Dinner! On the menu will be house-made lox with all the fixings, pumpkin waffles, and biscuits & gravy. Can’t wait!

Private Events & Other Fun Happenings

Since we’ve opened at our new location in July, we have been pleasantly surprised by the many private event inquiries we have had. Already we have hosted corporate events, birthday parties, a Jack & Jill, a Chapter of the American Institute of Architects, and more! Most of these events we have held in our Brew House, where our tanks are located and the beer-making magic happens. The Brew House is also one of the most spectacular places to relax and hang out on the property, as it is open all the way up to the top of the barn, so guests are treated to the beautiful atmosphere of the post & beam architecture. We are already booking up for Holiday parties in December, so if anyone is interested in learning more, please email Nicole as soon as you can.
In terms of other events:
– We are open from 11am to 9pm on Halloween. Bring the kids by for trick or treating –  our team will be dressed for the holiday, and the brewery will be spookily decorated, too!
– Come out and support our local food community under the harvest moon next Tuesday, October 27th at Applecrest Farm Bistro. This all-inclusive ‪#‎PigRoast‬ and ‪#‎NHBeer‬ fest should be one for the books! It”s also an awesome fundraiser for Seacoast Eat Local who keeps us eating local all year long. There are a few tickets left- get them here.
– Our next Book Club Meeting on November 29th at 1pm. We will be reading How To Be Both by Ali Smith.
