Saint Arnold New Letter

Saint Arnold Army Newsletter

Dear Saint Arnold’s Army:

Our Brew Crew is back from the Great American Beer Festival, and they brought back from Denver something very special: a Gold Medal for Weedwacker. It is Weedwacker’s third medal at GABF – it won a bronze each of the past two years. We now have 21 GABF medals for our 21 years.

Hooray, Weedwacker!

10 Years of Divine Reserve Cellar Tasting

Monday, October 19 – 6:00 – 8:30 PM

Way back in October 2005, we bottled Divine Reserve No. 1, a Barleywine that kicked off our series of special release, single batch beers. Over the past ten years, we’ve brewed 15 Divine Reserve beers and kept a stash of each release in our basement cellar (or as we call it, Papa Bear’s Cave).
Earlier this week, our brewers cracked open a bottle of each beer to taste. Tough job, they told us. These are beers that generally benefit from being aged, and they’ve developed nicely since their initial release.
On the evening of Monday, October 19, we’ll be hosting a Cellar Tasting in our Beer Hall to celebrate and, more importantly, taste each of these Divine Reserve beers. At this event, we will be pouring the last bottles we have of a few of these beers. In other words, unless you’ve got a buddy with DR1 in the back of the fridge, this will be your final opportunity to sample some of these beers.
When you arrive, you will be given a punchcard that will allow you to sample each of the following beers. We will be able to pour you more of some beers than of others (for example, we’ve got more DR15 than we do DR1). Here’s a rundown of the series:

  • DR1 – Barleywine
  • DR2 – Abbey American Quadrupel
  • DR3 – Double IPA
  • DR4 – Wee Heavy (World Beer Cup Gold Medal Winner)
  • DR5 – Russian Imperial Stout
  • DR6 – American Barleywine
  • DR7 – Weizenbock
  • DR8 – Scotch Ale
  • DR9 – Imperial Pumpkin Stout (original Pumpkinator)
  • DR10 – English Style Barleywine
  • DR11 – Double IPA (original Endeavour)
  • DR12 – Old Ale
  • DR13 – Belgian Quadrupel
  • DR14 – Belgian Strong Golden Ale
  • DR15 – Russian Imperial Stout

Tickets are $50 and include samples of each Divine Reserve beer, two selections from our regular beer lineup, a gold rimmed Divine Reserve taster glass and a Slow Dough pretzel. If you’re still hungry, a limited food menu will be available for purchase from our kitchen.

Art Car IPA Cans Coming Monday

We hope you’ve been enjoying our newest beer, Art Car IPA on tap as much as we have over the past couple of months. It will remain available on draft, and beginning Monday, October 12, it will also be available in 12 oz cans at your favorite place to buy Saint Arnold beer. If you haven’t enjoyed it yet, here’s the lowdown (though we’d really recommend you just go ahead and taste it for yourself).
Art Car IPA is an American IPA featuring a blend of both new and old hop varieties from the Pacific Northwest.
The nose is a blend of apricot and tropical fruit and mango. The taste starts with a big bitter blood orange that morphs into mangos and sweet tropical fruits. There is a lightly sweet malt body that allows the hops to shine while there being a nice complexity to the flavors.
Art Cars Touring the Town

The Art Car IPA name was inspired by the fleet of hand painted Art Cars created by local artists for Saint Arnold. The label artwork was designed by renowned Houston graffiti artist GONZO247, who has painted four Saint Arnold Art Cars.
Speaking of our Art Cars, we’ll be bringing some of the fleet out to celebrate the can release. Here’s where you can catch them:
