Splendidly Social

The 2014-2015 Beer Social Calendar is out now!

There are few things we love more after a busy summer than planning beer socials for the cooler months. Here is what our crack culinary team have planned for your gastronomic pleasure. Reservations are $40 each ($35 if you’re an Imperial Pint Club member)

November 20: Reap What You Sow-cial focuses on earthy fall foods and the seasonal beers that pair with them. Reservations are available now!

January 14: Warm & Fuzzy Social pairs strong beers with rich heavy foods.

February 12: Get Between the Sheets with aphrodesiacal foods and sultry beer pairings to put you in the mood for romance.

March 11: Up for a swine time? One Little Piggie Went to the Social is our version of a Louisiana boucherie. Chef Jon is sourcing a whole pig for this evening of beer, spirits and porcine delights.

April 8: The competition will be fierce at our second Chef/Brewer Team Battle, where three chef/brewer teams create exclusive beers and custom-created dishes to go along side. Try each pairing and vote for your favorite! The winner gets a trophy and lots of bragging rights.

May 13: The final social of the calendar is part of our American Craft Beer Week celebration, but it doesn’t yet have a formal name. We will be offering some of the freshest finds from our local farmers and pair them with some of Head Brewer Matt’s hoppiest concoctions.

We’ll post the menu for each beer social on our events calendar and our blog closer to each event.

Whether sooner, later, or both, we’ll see you at 56 Market Street!

While it may seem too early to think about holiday parties, it’s not. If you’re thinking of making merry with us, go ahead an call Donna Marcotte, our Function Coordinator at 431-1115.

Imperial Pint Club members will want to keep an eye on their email for notice of their annual shindig in the Jimmy LaPanza Lounge

Meatless Monday: Samosas – deep-fried Indian pastries, nestling a curried blend of potatoes, carrots and peas inside, topped with a housemade beet-pear chutney, mint sauce and over jasmine rice.

Tuesday: The Cubano – house-cured ham, tender roasted pork loin, swiss cheese, pickles and a little cha-cha-cha! The vegetarian variation has grilled zucchini and roasted red peppers

Wednesday: Stout-Braised Beef Stew with local fall veggies over mashed potatoes. The vegetarian variation is made with lentils and meat-free stout gravy.

Thursday: Lamb Burger topped with fresh herbs, pickled onions, feta, fresh arugula and tapenade mayo.

Friday: Old Brown Dog Marinated Pork Chop served with sweet potato purée, braised red cabbage and an apple cider reduction.

Saturday: Shrimp and Grits y’all! Shrimp sautéed with andouille sausage, peppers and onions, dressed with a beer-cream sauce and served over the finest stone-ground grits.

Comfort Food Sunday: Housemade Hot Dogs, Beery Mac & Cheese – two grilled PBrew franks in buttered buns with house relish and mustard flanked by macaroni smothered in a 5-cheese and beer sauce. Not at all like mom made it, but that’s ok, right?

Goodbye; Hello!

While we’re very sad to say goodbye to Assistant Brewer Tyler Sildve as he leaves 56 Market Street for the wild, wooly lands of Oxbow Brewing in Newcastle, Maine, we’re very excited to announce our new Assistant Brewer, Maxine Munsey!

Tyler was with us for two years; creating Uskaumata Saison and Lil’ Stubbins. He’s been a joy and was part of a wonderfully close brewing team. He will be missed.

Maxine is a native Granite Stater from Gilmanton. You may recognize her from behind the bar here at 56 Market Street. This is her first brewing position, but she has worked with bevarages before in the UNH animal sciences program’s dairy barns. Beer-wise, she’s worked at Barb’s Better Beers and Craft Beer Cellar-Portsmouth, two of New Hampshire’s leading craft beer stores. She told us, clearly at gunpoint, that she’s most excited to learn and contribute to the safety-glasses wearing team in the brewhouse.

Bulk up your Hoppy Card Points on Mondays, ALL DAY LONG! Whether you’re here at 11:30am or 11:30pm, you’ll get double points for anything you order.
