Saint Arnold Army Newsletter

Dear Saint Arnold’s Army:

This past Friday evening, we were proud to present Operation Homefront with a check for $41,400 from the sales of Homefront IPA. Operation Homefront is an organization that provides emergency financial and other assistance to the families of our service members and wounded warriors – a cause we are passionate about.

Including the contributions from our distributors Silver Eagle and Del Papa, we delivered over $50,000 to Operation Homefront. Thank you to everybody who made this possible.

The Newest Beer in our Icon Series,
Texas Common is Now Available

The inspiration for our latest Icon beer comes from San Francisco steam beers. Since the name “Steam” has been trademarked by Anchor Brewing, these beers are referred to as California Common Beers. We took a hoppier twist on this and thus named the style Texas Common. We fermented with the “San Francisco Lager” yeast at ale-like temperatures as is characteristic of the California Common style.

Our Texas Common is a red amber beer that holds a nice creamy head with an aroma full of tropical fruit. The flavor starts with a pleasant combination of fruit and malt and then goes to a long, dry bitter with just a hint of malt hanging on all the way.

We used only one hop variety in this beer: Mosaic. This is a fairly new hop varietal, released in 2012, and is known for its distinct but complex tropical and citrus aroma and flavor. The tropical aspects come through well in our Texas Common.

As always, you can find Icon in four packs at the grocery store and on tap at bars and restaurants around town. Learn more about Icon Green here.

Enjoy a Beer with Astros President Reid Ryan
at our Minute Maid Park Happy Hour
Friday, June 27 – 4:30 – 6:00 PM

Next Friday, June 27, you’ll be able to get into the game vs. Detroit early via the Union Station entrance. Why the Union Station entrance? It’s right next to our bar inside the ballpark. Convenient!

At our bar, we’ll be hosting a happy hour with entry at 4:30 PM and specials on Saint Arnold beer. You’ll also be able to meet and chat with team president Reid Ryan – or just have a beer with him. Our founder Brock and some of the Brew Crew will be there too. We’ve also recently added to the area several of our signature picnic tables straight out of our brewery tour hall. You’ll feel right at home.

You do need a ticket to the game to attend the happy hour, but we’ve got you covered there. Follow this link and enter special offer code “happyhour” to get a discounted ticket ($7 off regular price) in the Saint Arnold section for the game, the right field mezzanine.

Feast of Saint Arnold at the Brewery
Sunday, July 20 – 5:00 – 8:30 PM

On Sunday, July 20, we will be hosting the Feast of Saint Arnold, our annual fundraiser for Texas Children’s Hospital’s Inflammatory Bowel Disease Center. IBD includes Crohn’s Disease and ulcerative colitis, which together affect 1.4 million people in this country alone. The TCH IBD Center is a leading institution in the treatment and research of these diseases in the juvenile population.

Feast of Saint Arnold is a beer dinner unlike any other event. It features four courses: beef, pork, fish and fowl. All are served simultaneously and family-style (or as you would expect medieval knights to be served). The food is the result of a collaboration between Saint Arnold Executive Chef Ryan Savoie and Landry’s Concept Executive Chef Scott Castell. Reviews from previous years have been enthusiastic, to say the least.

You’ll get to pair the dishes with any of our regular beers, and we’ll also have DR13 aged in bourbon barrels, Weizenbock aged in Old New Orleans rum barrels and cask conditioned 20th Anniversary Ale.

You’ll arrive at 5:00 PM, enjoy some hors d’oeuvres and your aperitif beers. At 5:45 prompt, the Feast will commence. Utensils optional. Attire is brewery formal, which only precludes flip-flops.

Reservations are $100 each and include all of your food and beer. This is a popular event and will sell out.

Make your Feast of Saint Arnold reservations here.
