2014 has already been a pretty busy year for us here at the Boston brewery.
Over the past two months a lot has been happening, including the release of two new spring brews, Cold Snap, our new spring seasonal, and Escape Route. Rebel IPA, our new West Coast style IPA, is now available nationwide on draft and in 6 and 12 packs, which is something we know a lot of you have been waiting for. We’re also excited to celebrate our 30th Anniversary with the beer that started it all, Boston Lager.
So far, we’ve had a lot going on this year, and there’s still more to come! Learn more about a special release of our most award winning beer, Samuel Adams Double Bock, and check out where we’ll be kicking off our Brewing the American Dream speed coaching events.

We’re also running a Snap Out of It Sweepstakes to give you a chance to escape the cold with a guest to Hawaii for five days and four nights. Enter to win this trip through our Facebook page. We’ll be accepting entries until the end of February, so be sure to get yours in!

One of our original “big beers,” Double Bock was first brewed as our spring seasonal back in 1988. It has gone on to be one of our most award winning beers, earning 12 Great American Beer Festival medals, including a medal at GABF 2013.
Double Bock is brewed with over a half a pound of malt per bottle (almost as much as a loaf of bread) which creates a deep mahogany color, caramel sweetness and velvety smooth body. The rich maltiness is balanced by the Bavarian Noble hops, higher ABV, and lager smoothness to create a luscious and warming brew. This was our original “big beer” but the style has always had a link to this time of year. German Doppelbocks were originally brewed by monks back in the 15th century to provide sustenance during Lent.
Double Bock may be a big brew, but it also makes for a delicious beer and food pairing. The intense and sweet flavors complement and balance the savory richness of meats like duck, lamb, or pork tenderloin. The caramel malt sweetness and alcohol warmth also help balance the creamy richness of desserts like cheesecake or Crème Brûlé.
Beginning this month for a limited time, Samuel Adams Double Bock will be available nationwide in 22oz bottles and on draft. To see if Double Bock is available near you, visit our Find a Sam page.
