Dear Saint Arnold’s Army:

Christmas Ale Pub Crawl Part II
Next Saturday, December 14 in Rice Village

This is Part II of our Rice Village Pub Crawl with six stops. We are utilizing our “open house” schedule for the first five stops. This means that we’ll be signing tickets at all of the first five stops for four hours so people can split up between the establishments. You will get your ticket at whichever stop you decide to visit first. But, VERY IMPORTANT, we will only be handing out the tickets between 2:00 PM and 3:00 PM. Thus, you still need to start between 2:00 and 3:00.
Then, at 6:00 PM, everybody will gather at the final stop, and that’s where we will award the prizes. The prize for making all five stops will be a brand spanking new Pub Crawl pint glass. That’s right – clear a fresh spot in your cupboard. We’ll have a large but limited supply. As always, designated drivers are both eligible for the award and encouraged to attend! So here is the layout:
The first five locations:

  • The Ginger Man
  • Baker St. Pub & Grill
  • Little Woodrow’s
  • Buffalo Wild Wings
  • 55 Bar & Restaurant

And the final stop at 6:00 PM:

  • Brian O’ Neill’s

Now, for our annual tips for maximum enjoyment:

  1. Precoating: Try to eat something before commencing the crawl.
  2. Pacing: Too many Christmas Ales at the first stop is a critical strategic mistake. This is known as “Sprinting Too Early” which is not advisable in this, a distance event. Can have negative repercussions later.
  3. Manners: Be patient with bar staff. Remember, 700 or so people will be descending upon a poor crew. They will be working as fast as they can. Also, it is considered very good manners to tip well everywhere you go. This creates good “beerma”.
  4. Cash: Bring cash! This pleases the bar staff and the people standing behind you. Cash is fast. Credit cards are slow. They cannot run tabs for 700 people.
  5. Buddy System: Make sure that you are always in contact with a couple of people you know. One of you is bound to notice that the pack is starting to move on to the next stop. This prevents the disoriented feeling of looking around an empty bar and realizing that the only three people still in there are guzzling some inferior malted beverage and may be related to the missing link.
  6. Make New Friends: As everyone on this crawl will be intelligent and good looking, this is an excellent place to meet new people. Also, you will note that some people become better looking as the crawl wears on. If this occurs, be sure to consult your Buddy System partner.
  7. Designated Driver: Yes, we encourage this strongly. You never know when you might decide to run for president. And even the designated drivers on the crawl qualify for the prize. While pregnant wives are perfect for this role, it is known to be poor judgment for a husband to claim that this is the best part of her being pregnant. See “Mood Swings.”
  8. Enjoy Saint Arnold Beers: It is in poor taste to be seen quaffing anything else. Ever. See “Curse of Saint Arnold.”

Movie Night at Saint Arnold: Bad Santa
Monday, December 23
Taps at 6:00 PM, Movie at 7:00 PM

Tired of all the good cheer and stupid stupid heads with their stupid Christmas cheer? Fight back and head to The Brewery on Monday, December 23 for a night of being bad. Really, really, bad. We’ve partnered with the Alamo Drafthouse Rolling Roadshow for the third consecutive year for movie fun in our parking lot and, this time it’s the Billy Bob Thornton “classic” Bad Santa. This event is 21 and up ONLY and remember, the movie is a hard R.

Please bring your own chair. There will be food from our kitchen available for purchase as well for CASH ONLY! The menu will be announced closer to the event.

Also, since December 23 happens to be Festivus, before the movie starts we’ll have an Airing of Grievances Contest, so get your best insults ready. For a refresher on the rules of Festivus, check this out. Feel free to bring your own aluminum pole.

$15 admission includes the movie and two pints. Additional beers will be available for purchase. We’ll open the taps at 6:00 and start the movie promptly at 7:00.

We are excited to be a part of an Island tradition this weekend during the 40th Anniversary of Dickens on The Strand. Saint Arnold beers will be available all over the festival grounds (yes, you will be able to make merry with Christmas Ale, among others) so enjoy them while watching the parades and enjoying the festivities.

Get all the information and your tickets here.

Also, make sure to head out to our Afterparty at Brews Brothers on Saturday. Starting at 9:00 PM, they’ll be featuring a Christmas Ale cask, Endeavour, Brown Ale, Elissa IPA, Icon Red and Sailing Santa.

Annual Tapping of the Last Cask of Christmas Ale at The Stag’s Head
Tuesday, December 17 at 6:00 PM

This party began way back when we only made about four casks of Christmas Ale. Before that, Christmas Ale casks were made only for our employee Christmas Party.

The Stag’s Head event has turned into an annual tradition of a Christmas party with many of the brewing and homebrewing community showing up to enjoy the last cask of Christmas Ale, tasty hors d’oeuvres and the fellowship that surrounds all that we do.
