Dual beer weekends

Last weekend and this one our visit to Wandering Star would find Chris and Shannon on vacation to England, but in their stead was Brett and Leah which was a nice change even though only shortly. Our lunch stop on 8/24 would be the Old Forge I love their wings and the rotating taps. Now this holiday weekend in New England would be uncertain with the down pours from thunder storms then sun. We would cut the weekend short and head out on Sunday with a suggestion from the badassbeerwife that we go to Bennington Vermont for lunch to Madison brewing where we haven’t been to in a while. Lunch was excellent they had my favorite a Rachel sandwich along with a great Hopback IPA to wash it down, I would finish up with old 76 their strong ale and leave with my first German style growler full of the IPA. With it still being late afternoon/early evening I wanted to check out McLadden’s Pub in Northampton which was great with their 105 tap but we would only have one!

Great Divide

Rumble IPA pours amber with great head that stays on the way down with loads of sticky lacing. Nose of pine and resin notes some citrus to it. Taste is big on up front mouth bitterness with a nice malt back bone and a lingering after mouth. Very friggin good served in English pint glass at Olde Forge 7.1% on 8/24/13.

Madison Brewing

Hopback IPA pours amber with good head and loads of sticky lacing. Nose is citrus grapefruit with a nice malt aroma also. Taste is big on malt and hop bitter mouth that’s great. Served in pint glass at brewery on 9/1/13.

Old 76 pours dark red with good head and loads of sticky lacing. Nose is all malt with a sweetness and a small fruit aroma. Taste is big and full of rich malt goodness and also like the smell has a fruit like plum flavor? Served in pint glass at brewery on 9/1/13.

Mad River

Steelhead Double IPA pours amber with good head and lots of lacing. Nose is semisweet of malt and a fruit aroma in there. Taste is big with an upfront mouth bite and an overall after bite as well which makes this a Badassbeer. served in snifter 8.6% 10oz at McLadden’s on 9/1/13.
