Dear Saint Arnold’s Army:

April showers bring lots and lots of May events!

Santo de Mayo Pub Crawl This Saturday, May 4

Our Midtown Pub Crawl is this Saturday, May 4, and we will be celebrating Cinco de Mayo with Santo de Mayo. Come adorned in your Santo-wear. The prize for completing the Pub Crawl is a special Santo de Mayo pint glass. Here are the details:

Pub Crawl will be open house format starting at 2:00 PM. We will be signing tickets at all six of the first six stops for four hours so people can split up between the establishments. You will get your ticket at whichever stop you decide to visit first. But, VERY IMPORTANT, we will only be handing out the tickets between 2:00 and 3:00 PM. Thus, you still need to start between 2:00 and 3:00.

Then, at 6:00 PM, everybody will gather at one final stop, and that is where we will award the Santo de Mayo glasses. We will have a large supply, so don’t worry about not getting a glass. And as always, designated drivers are both eligible for the award and encouraged to attend. So here is the layout:

For legal reasons, we are only giving hints as to where we will be. Think you can decipher the code?

Between 2:00 and 6:00 PM:

500 block of Gray St.: Imagine something larger than a pig flying.

2300 block of Louisiana: A beer garden from the Emerald Isle.

200 block of Gray St.: Where you wish you had a swing.

2000 block of Bagby St.: A heavenly place to tailgate.

2400 block of Bagby St.: Imagine a poodle carved from a tree.

2400 block of Brazos St.: What you will be doing and where you will be doing it.

The 6:00 PM final stop:

2300 block of Brazos: Anything owned by President Wilson when he was young.

Congrats,
Bike Team!

A huge congrats and thank you goes out to all of the riders on our 2013 MS 150 Bike Team. This year our team was over 400 riders strong! Y’all rock!

Art Car Parade on Saturday, May 11

This continues to be one of the best, if not the best, event to attend in Houston. Come on out and make a fun day of it. Look for the Saint Arnold entry and wave as we pass!

Advice #1: Come early as the cars are arriving so you can walk up and down the street looking at the cars up close and speaking with the artists.

Advice #2: Support the parade and get the best seats in the house by getting your VIPit tickets (lots of tasty beverages too) via this link.

Advice #3: Buy a Saint Arnold along the parade route.

To get all of the info on the parade, check out The Houston Art Car Parade’s website.

Immediately after the play, the bus will bring everybody back to their cars at the brewery.

Icon Green Rolling Out This Week

The next in our Icon series is coming out this week. Saint Arnold Icon Green is an Amarillo hefeweizen inspired by a recipe developed three years ago by Saint Arnold Brewer Sam Wright as a wedding gift for his sister and brother-in-law. Here is the description in Sam’s words:

"My sister asked for a special beer so I worked on bringing together the esters and phenolics of the hefeweizen yeast with the unique piney and citrus notes of the Amarillo hops."

In addition to Amarillo hops, Icon Green is made with two-row barley as well as wheat, Vienna and Cara-Munich malts.

This is a refreshing summer beer that has the base of a hefeweizen with the surprise of the Amarillo hops. The spice of the yeast combines with the orange and spruce flavors of the hops to create a beer that you would swear actually had spice and fruit added to it, but it is just an artful combination of malt, hops, yeast and water.

Icon Green will be available until it isn’t. Hopefully it makes it until August.
