DECEMBER BREW-NEWS

Happy Holidays Shipyard Ale Society!

November was a great month for Maine beer. Portland Beer Week was a huge success and we had a blast showcasing our favorite brews at the Maine Brewers

Festival.

December has a lot to live up to, but we are confident it will not disappoint. Applehead, in all of its crisp delicious glory, is back and will be popping up on shelves very soon along with the newest addition to our Bourbon Aged series.

As the year comes to a close the Shipyard Crew would like to thank you for your support and enthusiasm for craft beer!

2012 has been another record year filled with the excitement of introducing Pumpkinhead and Export Ale in cans and the launch of our Bourbon Barrel Aged line of ales.

Our brewers are working on some awesome new brews for 2013 and we can’t wait to share them with you!

Cheers from The Crew!

Bourbon Barrel Aged Prelude

We are excited to announce the release of our next Bourbon Barrel Aged beer – Prelude Special Ale! Our winter favorite has been enhanced by a 6 month stint in Bourbon Barrels which added smoky notes and a bourbon enhanced finish.

This amped-up, 9.5% ABV, winter warmer will be available in select markets and in limited supply this December.

Shipyard Brew Haus

With winter upon us some may be longing for summer, but we are pumped for ski season! If you happen to be skiing at one of Maine’s renowned mountains in the coming months stop by the Shipyard Brew Haus to warm up with a pint. We have locations at White Cap Lodge at Sunday River and at the Sugarloaf Inn.

3-4 tablespoons hot sauce, to taste

4 jalapeno peppers

3-4 tablespoons chili powder, to taste

1 green pepper

1 tablespoon cumin

1 red pepper

2 teaspoons paprika

15.5 oz can of light red kidney beans

In a crock-pot add the cooked and drained lean ground beef, sliced stew beef, onion, garlic, salt and Longfellow Ale. Cook on medium to medium high for about 45 minutes.

While that’s cooking mince the habanero and jalapeno peppers and dice the green and red peppers.

Add peppers to the crock-pot. Then add the kidney beans and diced tomatoes.

Finally add the habanero powder, hot sauce, chili powder, cumin, paprika and cayenne pepper.

Stir again to combine and let it cook in the crock-pot on medium high for about 4 hours.
