Hooker Brewing taste and tour

On Saturday we visited Thomas Hooker brewing with a big difference from our last visit some 8 or 9 months ago. There was a five dollar admission and this time they put a bracelet with ten tear off segments around your wrist for ten 4oz samples. Now let me say when we got there we had less then an hour and a half to taste some 40oz of beer! Well fortunately we could still drive and we got to talk with a few visitors on their and our likes and dislikes witch weren’t any. Not much had changed since our last visit it was still packed with people and that goes to show that they make some great brews. There are still two tap stations pouring some 10 to 12 of their brews. I left with my favorites there the IPA and Chocolate Truffle Stout a growler of both, and these brews are just great along with all there brews.

Chocolate Truffle Stout pours black with foaming head that keeps bubbling and good sticky lacing. Nose is big on chocolate with some rich roasted malt notes. Taste is more on the coffee/espresso side with some hints of chocolate in there along with very smooth mouth. Very good at 5.9% sample tasting and growler from brewer on 12/1/12.

Hop Meadow IPA pours golden in color with big fluffy head that settles down to a floating film and lots of sticky lacing down glass. Nose is big with citrus and pine and floral aromas even at a distance. Taste is also on the big side with more of a malt flavor along with a subtle bitter hop mouth at the end. Excellent at 6.4% sample tasting and growler from brewer on 12/1/12.
