Happy October Shipyard Ale Society!

It is officially fall in Portland, ME and with the change of season comes some exciting news from the brew house. Pumpkinhead is one of two Shipyard brews now available in cans (with more to come!) and a new line of limited edition barrel aged ales is hitting shelves.

Our brew house crew is proud to share their creativity and passion for beer through these special brews and we hope you enjoy.

Cheers from The Crew!

Pumpkinhead is Available in Cans

This past July we were excited to announce the debut of our flagship Export Ale in a can, but that is not the only Shipyard ale that has gone metal. We are thrilled to share that our fall favorite, Pumpkinhead Ale, is now available in cans as well. Check out this linkfor more information.

Bourbon Barrel Aged Ales
Now Available

The first of a new line of limited edition bourbon barrel aged ales has been released. 350 cases of Bourbon Barrel Aged Double ESB are quickly selling off store shelves and 350 cases of Bourbon Barrel Aged Smashed Pumpkin are soon to follow.

These brews have been cellar-aged for over 100 days in decanted bourbon barrels and the 750 mL bottles have been hand filled, corked, and individually labeled with bottle numbers.

Video of the barrels being filled can be viewed on our YouTube page here.

Read more about these new brews and what’s to come, on our blog.

Trail to Ale 10k

The 13th Annual Portland Trails’ Trail to Ale 10k was once again a huge success! Nearly 1,500 runners turned out on September 16th to run and raise money for the Portland Trails land trust which preserves green space for public access.

The Shipyard crew was on hand with Export and Pumpkinhead cans for the runners.

Perfect weather, an awesome run, and a great cause made for an unbeatable event.

Cooking with Pumpkinhead

There are many ways to enjoy our delicious fall brew. Chef Chris Gordon has shared his original recipe for Pumpkinhead Pancakes using Shipyard Pumpkinhead Ale.

Ingredients:

1 cup all-purpose flour

½ cup Pumpkinhead Ale

½ tsp. baking powder

½ tsp. baking soda

½ tsp. cinnamon

a pinch of clove

½ tsp. nutmeg

½ cup pumpkin puree

½ cup milk

2 eggs

¼ cup melted butter

1 tsp. vanilla extract

Wisk all ingredients together until blended well. Spray non-stick fry pan with pan spray. Place half cup batter in center of fry pan on medium heat. Cook until bubbles form on pancake and flip (about two minutes on each side). Serve with Reed’s Maple Syrup.

Enjoy!

We hope you enjoy the new additions to Shipyard’s lineup this fall. Don’t forget to visit us on Facebook, Twitter, and Bloggerfor the latest Shipyard news.
