Samuel Adams E-Mail

Hey Badassbeers!

Happy July all! We hope you had a great Independence Day celebration with friends and family. By the looks of the comments we received on our Facebook page, it appears Summer Ale and Porch Rocker were the go to favorites. As for me personally, I enjoyed a combination of Boston Lager and Noble Pils to toast the fourth.

July has brought a lot of excitement for us around the brewery. Earlier this month we announced that three of our Barrel Room Collection beers will be available nationally with shipping beginning in the next few weeks. We also have a special one-day-only release brew, Brewlywed Ale, that will be available for sale next Thursday (more on that below). For those who are able to acquire a bottle next Thursday, we raise a toast to you as you celebrate your special day down the road.

Thank you for taking the time to check out this month’s edition of What’s on Tap! We know the summer time can be busy and before you know it we’ll be experiencing cooler temperatures and heisting steins to toast Octoberfest!

Cheers!

Cheers! - Andrew & Bert, 2011

NATIONAL IPA DAY
RETURNS AUGUST 2

Samuel Adams Beer Lover's Choice

After a successful inaugural celebration in 2011, we’re excited to learn that IPA Day makes its return on August 2, 2012! Established last year by beer evangelists Ashley Routson and Ryan Ross, IPA Day is an opportunity for all to celebrate their love for craft beer and in particular, India Pale Ales. You may have seen similar celebrations for stouts in November and lagers in December.

Do you want to get involved? CraftBeer.com suggests organizing an IPA-focused event at your favorite local brewery, brewpub, restaurant, bar, bottle shop, home or even office! Get some friends and a few different IPAs to sample as a group and discuss the different hop profiles. It’s like being here at the brewery for taste panel, but from the comfort of your own space! More ideas of what you can do on IPA Day can be found at CraftBeer.com.

BOSTON BREWERY EXPANDS!

Mass Brewers Fest

For those who have visited our Boston Brewery this summer, you may have noticed we’ve taken on a series of construction projects. With the goal of creating a better experience for you, we’ve made some exciting improvements including:

Windows built into the side of The Barrel Room, giving you a different view of our oak tuns which were disassembled at a cooperage in Portugal and shipped here to Boston a few years ago! If you’ve never seen them before, you should… they’re huge!

An additional tasting room was added allowing us to expand our tours as well as potentially offering other events down the road. Beer dinners? Beer education classes? The possibilities are endless…

A new, larger gift shop area was created to give you more room to shop and offer some more variety. You’ll also notice you have a little room to hang out after your tour and take in the sights you may have missed during your tour.

On the brewing side, in addition to more storage space and a new malt room, we’re excited to bring in several nano brewing systems that will allow our brewers to create multiple batches at once so they can develop and experiment with many new beer ideas. Who knows, perhaps there’ll be a batch on tap for your next visit!

Coming to Boston? We hope you’ll come visit and enjoy a beer with us.

BREWING THE AMERICAN DREAM SPOTLIGHT: MOJO’S AMERICAN GRILL

With a do-it-yourself mentality, 30-year restaurant industry veteran and chef Steven Rode started his own restaurant, Mojo’s American Grill that serves regional American favorites. He also partners with other local start-ups to cross-promote each other’s products and support local San Diego businesses. After trying for six months to secure financing for his start-up restaurant, Steven found the working capital he needed from the Samuel Adams Brewing the American Dream program. With a $10,000 loan, Steven was able to cover the costs of equipment and food and generate more business momentum.

Beer of the Month
Samuel Adams Featured Beer

A distinct sweet and slightly tart cherry flavor.

When we first brewed Samuel Adams Cherry Wheat® in 1995, we wanted to follow the old American tradition of brewing beer with native ingredients that had been occurring for centuries. For Cherry Wheat, we went to the Grand Traverse area of Michigan for cherries that would add just the right amount of fruit flavor. When brewing this unique style, we add dry cherries to give the brew a distinct sweet and slightly tart cherry flavor that compliments the crisp cereal notes from the wheat and the bright citrus character of the Noble hops. Towards the end of the brewing process we add a touch of honey to round out these flavors. The combination of ingredients gives Cherry Wheat just the right balance of tart and sweet cherry flavor while still capturing the crisp and refreshing taste of a wheat beer.

Cherry Wheat is currently available in 6-packs as well as being included in our Summer Styles variety 12-pack at participating retailers. To help find it near you, please visit our Find a Sam page.
