With layoffs from my place of employment including me! This will be the last post for the after work brew till reemployed? Seeing this was Wednesday the 27th our 41st wedding anniversary I thanked them for now I can take the wife out for dinner. That would be at one of our favorite places the Opa Opa steakhouse and brewery. Courtney was happy to see us there and we filled her in on what was going on then talked about beer and food. We were having a good time with a medium crowd around us and then the owner Thamus found out about or special day and they took pictures of us with cowboy hats on and we got dessert and a round on him. Thanks go out to him and all the staff there for a great time.
Doppelbock pours hazy brown with good head and lacing that slides down the glass. Nose of dark malt with somewhat of a floral note to it. Taste is a combination of brown ale and Barleywine with a little mouth sting from alcohol I think?
Buckwheat IPA. Pours light amber color with nice head and lots of lacing. Nice hoppy bitter bite when cold. Then gets smoother when it warms. Taste of wheat malt that’s present at first, then hops kick in, with event an after bite. Nose of malt and some citrus in there. Very enjoyable! Better than most average IPA’s.
