This week’s excursion included the Badassbeerwife, seeing we had a good time last week together. I have to start especially with kudos to the Tavern Restaurant in Westfield. For John the owner and Chris the manager and Judy the bartender for just a great time on the day after Valentine’s Day, They really know how to treat their patrons. Now I could go on and on and on but I’m not going to! Now most of you folks are here for the beer, and I’ve recently had these two in the past, but not together at one setting. And it’s becoming more evident why my local Springfield beer nut George Lenker likes the racer 5 as a regular IPA. The chaser brew was a stone IPA which put a Wonderful cap on the night.
Bear Republic Racer 5 pours golden amber with big fluffy head and lots of sticky lacing. Nose is of grapefruit with some floral notes. Taste is big on hops with good mouth bite and lots of linger I mean it even starts coming out the nose! 7.0% Westfield tavern 2/16/12.
Stone IPA pours light amber with great head that stays afloat and thick sticky lacing all the way down glass. Nose of citrus with some pine/earthy notes. Taste is big on hop mouth bite that just blast away for awhile. A Badassbeer! 6.9% tap at Tavern Restaurant 2/16/12.
